Candied Pears and Flaxseed Crumble

Hello foodies,

Today we’re going to treat ourselves simply by enjoying seasonal fruits without spending too much money!

Here’s my recipe for candied pears with flaxseed flour crumble.

A top dessert, in every way

Candied pears paired with a flaxseed crumble create a gourmet dessert that combines fruity sweetness with nutritional benefits. You will be charmed by the balance between the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the fruit and the crunchiness of the crumble. Not only is it delicious, but it features simple, natural ingredients, making it the perfect pastry for those who appreciate both modern and healthy desserts.

That’s everything I love, you know!

A dessert featuring pear

The pear holds a special place in pastry-making. Valued for its juicy, sweet flesh, it lends itself wonderfully to cooking methods that concentrate its aromas.

When we candy pears, their texture becomes delectable, and their flavor intensifies, making them an ideal foundation for many desserts.

In indulgent recipes, pears are often paired with contrasting ingredients, such as chocolate, dried fruits, or a crunchy crumble. Therefore, candied pears allow for the creation of an elegant, simple, and comforting dessert. When served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s truly a treat!

The originality of flaxseed flour

The crumble that accompanies the pears can be made using various types of flour. Typically, I use classic T55 or T45 flour.

However, using flaxseed flour adds a unique and interesting touch from a nutritional perspective.

Made from flax seeds, this flour has a slightly nutty flavor that complements the sweetness of the fruit beautifully. It also gives the crumble a distinctive texture—both crumbly and crunchy.

Nutritionally, flaxseed flour stands out for its richness in dietary fiber, plant proteins, and omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients contribute to a balanced diet and support the proper functioning of the digestive and cardiovascular systems. A dessert that’s good for your health—who can say no??

A recipe inspired by home cooking

Desserts featuring candied fruits and crumble have their roots in various European culinary traditions. Cooked fruits with a crispy crust evoke memories of British crumbles and rustic desserts from European cuisines.

Today, cooks reinterpret these traditional recipes by incorporating new flours or more nutritious ingredients. The addition of flaxseed flour is part of this evolution toward creative cuisine that pays attention to nutritional benefits.

A perfect dessert for all seasons

Candied pears with flaxseed flour crumble can be enjoyed year-round, but they’re particularly delightful in the fall and winter when pears are at their peak. Served warm, this dessert offers a true moment of comfort, perfect after a gathering with friends. Feel free to adapt the recipe with seasonal fruits—peaches or nectarines would be wonderful for a summer version.

With the balance between the melting fruit and the crunchy crumble, this dessert appeals to both traditional pastry lovers and those who seek healthier options.

And what I also adore about this recipe for candied pears with flaxseed flour crumble is the way it is served on a plate. Plus, when presented in my small Staub cocottes, it’s just so cute…

The necessary utensils:

A cutting board,

A good paring knife,

A vegetable peeler,

A pan,

A mixing bowl (or a large bowl),

And 3 small cocottes. Here you go! I believe I’ve shared everything. Let’s head to the kitchen, put on an apron, and get started on making your poached pears with flaxseed flour crumble!
