The tradition of bruschetta
Bruschetta is an iconic Italian specialty with origins that date back to antiquity. Extremely popular in Italy, it was originally a humble dish created by peasants to use up stale bread. The word “bruschetta” comes from the Italian verb bruscare, meaning “to grill,” referring to the toasted bread that is rubbed with garlic and drizzled with olive oil.
Traditionally, bruschetta consists of toasted bread, garlic, olive oil, and salt. This simple combination highlights the quality of the ingredients, particularly the olive oil, a cornerstone of Mediterranean cuisine. This dish was often enjoyed during the olive harvest to test the freshness of the new oil.

Over time, many variations of bruschetta have emerged. The most well-known version is tomato bruschetta, topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of olive oil. Other variations include prosciutto, mozzarella, grilled vegetables, or goat cheese.
Today, bruschetta has become a staple in the world of appetizers and starters, appreciated for their simplicity and creativity. They perfectly embody the spirit of Italian cuisine: authentic, friendly, and flavorful.

The Crottin de Chavignol
Crottin de Chavignol is an iconic goat cheese from the French terroir, originating from the village of Chavignol in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Its history spans several centuries, as local peasants originally made this small cheese for daily consumption. Over the years, it gained notoriety for its unique flavor and artisanal craftsmanship.
Made from raw or pasteurized goat’s milk, Crottin de Chavignol is notable for its texture that evolves with aging: soft and fresh at first, it becomes drier and more pronounced over time. This cheese is now recognized as one of the great classics of French gastronomy.
Crottin de Chavignol holds a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). This designation guarantees that the cheese is produced, processed, and aged in a specific geographical area, in accordance with traditional methods. The PDO also ensures quality, authenticity, and traceability of the product.
Thanks to this recognition, Crottin de Chavignol is protected against imitations and enhances local heritage. It embodies the excellence of French terroir products, combining tradition, quality, and a strong regional identity.
That’s everything I love: terroir products made by passionate people with fantastic taste!
