But this time, I gave in… I succumbed to the pressure from my daughter, who had been urging me for weeks to make a tasty crousty! « Mom, you have to make a tasty crousty. It looks so good! Well, I haven’t tasted it, but I see it everywhere on social media!! »

I resisted for weeks, but ultimately, I experienced a moment of weakness. And bam! My daughter asked me again for the famous tasty crousty, and I surrendered!

Honestly, I was blown away! I expected it to be decent. After glancing at various recipes here and there (everyone seems to have made this recipe!), I thought it would be okay. But tasty, original, and this easy to make? No, I didn’t expect that! I’m telling you: I’m going to make it again very soon!

If you’ve glanced at my photos, you’ve probably understood everything already. The tasty crousty is simply marinated chicken that is then breaded and served with a sauce. Nothing extraordinary so far…

Except that… Yes, except that the marinade is top-notch, the little sauce is surprisingly flavorful, and the combination of the two is perfect! My secret ingredient for added crunch beyond simple breaded chicken? Panko breadcrumbs, which are a Japanese style of breadcrumb. They are commonly used in Japanese and Chinese restaurants for dishes like shrimp tempura, which are ultra-crunchy… However, you can use regular breadcrumbs if you prefer.

My tips for making your tasty crousty a success

First of all, and I believe this is the crucial element here, you should have chicken pieces that are not too thick. I asked my butcher to cut the chicken fillets to a maximum thickness of 1 cm (about 0.4 inches), ensuring they are as uniform as possible. This way, you will achieve quick and especially even cooking of your chicken.

As for the marinade, I recommend not skipping it. 30 minutes is sufficient for the meat to absorb the flavors from the assorted ingredients mixed together. However, if you’d like, you can let it marinate for 1 to 2 hours.

And finally, the sauce. I adored its slightly sweet, rounded, and gentle flavor. The combination with the breaded chicken is simply fantastic.

I served it all with Thai rice, and it was incredibly delicious!

Ingredients

  • Marinade
  • 1 tablespoon of barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder (optional)
  • 500 g of chicken fillets
  • Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of fresh cream
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of salty soy sauce
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Panure
  • 50 g of flour
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 100 g of panko breadcrumbs
  • A bit of vegetable oil

Instructions

Marinade
