Honey and Mustard Marinated Chicken Drumsticks

Hello friends,

Today, we’re going to make something delicious that’s super quick and easy to prepare. The kind of recipe you’ll really enjoy, I know… 😉

Here are my honey and mustard marinated chicken drumsticks.

Why this recipe?

Lately, my recipe for marinated chicken drumsticks with barbecue sauce has been particularly popular. In fact, it consistently ranks among the top three most viewed recipes on the blog.

So, I felt inspired to stick with the same concept – an easy, quick, and truly tasty recipe – but with a different flavor profile. It’s a recipe grounded in the tradition of French cuisine.

These honey and mustard marinated chicken drumsticks can be prepared in just 5 minutes!

Honestly, it doesn’t get much easier than this. You need just five minutes to prepare the marinade using simple ingredients you likely already have in your pantry, and then you’re done! After that, let your chicken drumsticks marinate for at least 30 minutes for the flavors to infuse. If you have the time to let them marinate longer, that would be even better!

In any case, you’ll end up with tender, juicy meat – just the way we like it…

Then, they go in the oven, and that’s it. It’s super simple.

My recommendations for the marinade

Whether it’s for this recipe or others, here are my tips for optimizing your marinated dishes.

There are three main methods for marinating: sous vide, in a freezer bag, or in a bowl.

Sous vide marinade

Advantages: Vacuum sealing removes air, allowing the marinade to penetrate better into the fibers of the meat or fish. This method can cut marinating time in half, which is quite valuable! Additionally, it enables hygienic preservation without the risk of oxidation.

Disadvantages: It requires a vacuum sealer. And if you don’t have one… well, that’s a challenge! 😉 I use the Zwilling Fresh & Save system, which I highly recommend. (affiliate link)

Marinade in a freezer bag

Advantages: This method is economical and practical. It allows for even distribution of the marinade; after closing the bag, you can massage the food to ensure it’s well-coated. It also saves space in your refrigerator.

Disadvantages: You’ll use a freezer bag, which is not eco-friendly due to its disposable plastic. There’s also a risk of leakage if the bag isn’t sealed properly.

Marinade in a bowl or baking dish

Advantages: This is by far the simplest and most accessible method, especially for larger cuts of meat or fish.

Disadvantages: Since it’s not airtight, your marinade will soak in more slowly. This method requires covering it with plastic wrap or a lid to avoid odors and contamination in your refrigerator.

The benefits of this recipe for marinated honey and mustard chicken drumsticks

I see two clear advantages, in addition to the fact that it’s incredibly delicious.

First of all, it’s an affordable dish. And we all appreciate that, don’t we?

Secondly, it’s a recipe that’s easily adaptable for larger gatherings. Choosing a dish to serve when entertaining a crowd can often be tricky. This recipe is a lifesaver in such situations!!

What to serve with your honey and mustard marinated chicken drumsticks?

I suggest keeping it simple to let your chicken drumsticks shine. Therefore, I recommend rice, pasta, a delicious mashed potato or sweet potato puree for example. Steamed green beans would also make a delightful accompaniment.

The necessary utensils:

A large bowl or vacuum-sealed container for marinating,

A garlic grater,

A spatula,

And a large oven-safe dish (I used the baking tray from my oven). I have nothing else to add. I suggest you head to the kitchen, put on your apron, and make those delicious honey and mustard marinated chicken drumsticks!
